Set on a wooden mount (20th century), the massive pottery head of a Luohan with cream glaze suggesting skin tone and green glaze suggesting hair. Massive proportions of head and ears suggest figure was originally part of a larger-than-life-size sculpture.

Two tones of brown glaze; unctuous dark brown to shoulder and on lower belly, revealing iron-rich clay body, below slightly irregular and thick glaze termination. Plain base, thick ruffle neck, loop handles. Jug mouth of wrapped clay cylinder type. Amber toned glaze around belly, revealing incised coursing dragon motif.
