DescriptionBotanical drawing of (1) Nigella Nana (dwarf nigella), a plant with spiny green stem and leaves, green-black bud, and white flower; (2) Nigella involucrata, a plant with spiny green stem and leaves, green and purple bud, and light blue-purple flowers; (3) Nigella Hispanica (Large Spanish nigella), a plant with spiny green stem and leaves, green bud with red spots, and blue flower; (4) Nigella Hispanica var alba, a plant with spiny green stem and leaves and white flower; (5) Nigella damascena (Roman or Damascus nigella, common fennel flower, love-in-a-mist, devil in the bush), a plant with spiny green stem and leaves and white flower; and (6) Nigella orientalis (Oriental, or yellow-flowered nigella), a plant with spiny green stem and leaves, green bud, and yellow flower.
