DescriptionGraphite or charcoal sketch of a 1942 locomotive in a rail yard with paint, sumi ink, water color and possibly crayon on thick paper, extensive notations along both edges of the front, and a simplified sketch of the same composition on verso with the title in Japanese on the lower left verso, Hodogaya, unsigned, ca. 1969 (or earlier). This watercolor of a 1942 locomotive in a rail yard is a preparatory work for the 1969 print, Hodogaya, which was a part of Sekino's print series, Fifty-Three Stations of the Tokaido, begun in 1959 and completed in 1974.
