DescriptionShatila and Burj el-Barajneh are long-term refugee camps in Lebanon. The streets are more like alleyways, and snarled electrical wires and water pipes are draped overhead. There are several electrocution deaths annually from the overhead wires. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) set up Shatila in 1949 for Palestinian refugees who had been dispalced from their homeland. Their children still hope that they will someday return to Palestine.
