DescriptionLandscape of coquina watchtower Fort Matanzas on a barrier island along the Matanzas River, surrounded by salt marshes and barrier islands on the coast of St. Augustine, Florida. The watchtower sits in the center of the composition on the horizon line. The upper half of the painting is comprised of the sky, with a sliver of coastline to the right of the watchtower which is framed by palms and other native trees. In the foreground is a lush expanse of grasses among the dunes.
