DescriptionEight taxonomic illustrations of plants and animals from the Americas. In the center, three snakes intertwine their bodies. They include a green spotted snake, a yellow and white striped water snake, and a brown and white banded water snake. Beneath them is a green frog from Suriname. To their left and right lie two aquatic plants of green and yellow. At the top of the composition, one yellow and one red bird from Mexico fly and face each other. Plate 70 from Volume II of "Locupletissimi Rerum Naturalium Thesauri," Amsterdam: Wetsten, Smith and Waesberg, 1734-1755.
